Christmas In Montana

Picking a Tree

This year we spent Christmas in Western Montana with Mandy's parents, Bob and Kathy. We were able to drive up a local forest service road and find our rustic tree. Finding a wild tree with enough branches and needles was a little difficult, but we found the one that we could chop and take home for Christmas. It's been a bit cold and we have had a good amount of snow to wake up to each day. The boys have had fun building multiple snowmen (complete with names) and enjoyed some sledding down some local hills.

Bob and Kathy,'s church fellowship Crossroads Community Church held an outreach called "A Night in Bethlehem" that we were able to be involved with. Jeff, Bob, Jed and Eli spent the day before setting up and preparing for the event. Kathy and Mandy set up and ran a bread table where they were able to serve homemade bread and talk with people coming through. They sliced up and served nine full large loaves of bread...The previous year only went through 2. The turn out was amazing with local families and friends coming in from the cold to hear the story of Jesus' birth. This is the 3rd year Crossroads has done this event, and it proved to be a great way to prepare for celebrating our Saviors birth.

John 1:9-14  "The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.  He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.  He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him,  who believed in his name,  he gave the right  to become  children of God, who were born,  not of blood  nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of  grace and  truth."

We have enjoyed our time out in the wilds of Montana. Even though it's been cold, it's been beautiful and we have found ourselves gathered around the fireplace talking and laughing, or just sitting at the table watching the sun move across the blue sky.

We've had a wonderfully white Christmas and we cant help thinking that next year could be very different if we are able to spend it in Kenya! We are very thankful for the time we've had together as a family. But like everything else, all things come to an end. We hope that you've all had a very Merry Christmas, and we pray that as you look forward into the new year, it will be full of love, laughter and hope.
