June Meanderings

It's already June and I feel like the days are blasting past. June 1st we celebrated Jedidiah's 13th birthday. All I can think is slow it down, way down. But I can't slow down the growing up process and we really like the man he is becoming.

We managed to surprise him and a friend with a surprise birthday party to celebrate this marker in their lives. It was a memorable and really good day. It was also the day we shared at our church about our upcoming job assignment in Kenya. We recognize that the Lord continues to give us opportunities to share and invite others in on this adventure with us. We simply love to share about the people we have come to know and love that happen to live out in the wilds of Kenya. And we are looking forward to meeting more of these people and sharing with them the message of the cross and the hope it brings.

In order to go though, we have to prepare. Our preparation is not only to pack and go but to pray a lot. We find ourselves praying about some of what would seem the smallest things because we know that God is still in control of those little insignificant items. As we have been preparing the house to sell, we have continues to stumble upon little things that add up to be overwhelming but sometimes they are little fixes, but still overwhelming. We have found ourselves praying over doors that aren't locking or moving quite right, and interestingly enough after praying, they seem to be running smoothly. We had a light that wasn't  working right as well, and we thought we had tried to switch bulbs before so we assumed it would be a job for an electrician to get it set. Well, we prayed. And then tried another bulb. And it works. These things are some small in comparison to so many other things, but we are seeing that God has his hand in all things and we are so thankful to have him to turn to. Which again, reminds us of why we are going to Kenya. We are blessed to know the Lord and to have Him to turn to in all situations. To know Him and to trust Him. He is our source of hope.  The Dorobo are "hope" less. They believe they have somehow severed their relationship with God and there is no way to repair it. When we share about Jesus, it is their first glimpse of hope. That there is a offer of reconciliation through Jesus. This is what we long to share with this group of people.

So as we look to prepare the house and continue to wait on the Lord for provision in the process, we are reminded in the little things that God is our hope and that the best place we can be is here, waiting on Him to direct our steps- and sell our house.

Thank you for the prayers. We know we are not walking this journey without  the love, encouragement, and support of those the Lord has called to come alongside us.
